Baggage Allowance:
Passengers carrying more than the allowed baggage limit are charged an excess baggage fee. All airlines, be it domestic or international, have strict baggage rules.
What to carry in Cabin baggage?
All domestic and international Air India travelers can carry only one piece of hand baggage weighing a maximum of 7 kg as cabin baggage. The bag should not exceed these dimensions: height 22 inches, length 14 inches, and width 10 inches. If you are traveling with children, you will be happy to know that they are entitled to the same cabin baggage allowance as adults. You can carry hand luggage depending on your domestic or international travel with Air India. The staff includes - an overcoat or blanket, a camera or binoculars, medicines, an umbrella, a laptop, a collapsible wheelchair, and a walking stick. Those traveling with an infant can carry baby essentials such as a carrying basket, feeding bottles and you will not be allowed to carry liquids, gels, or aerosols. Note( Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is banned on all Air India flights).
What to carry in Checked-in baggage?
Domestic flights, Air India allows checked-in baggage of 40 kgs in first class, 35 kgs in business class, and 20 kgs in economy class. Infants traveling in any class will be allowed checked-in baggage of 10 kgs with their ticket.
International flights, in economy class- the weight of each bag must not exceed 23 Kgs or 50 pounds and for first and business class- The maximum weight permissible for a single piece of baggage is 32 kg. or 70 pounds.
What to carry in Sports equipment?
In Air India, you can carry your sporting equipment for free up to the extent mentioned by the airline and will have to pay for the excess.
What to pay for Excess baggage?
If you are traveling within India, Air India flight, and have baggage that exceeds the flight allowance, you will have to pay INR 500 plus applicable GST per kg. If you are traveling internationally by Air India and have excess baggage, you will be charged either by ks or by pieces. By weight, you will be charged between USD10 and USD30 per kg, depending on your destination from India.

Web Check-in And Verification Process:
The Web check-in process provides the facility through which passengers can provide confirmed booking in an Air India operated flights and one could check-in for the flight through the Air India website. For the web check-in process, you would have to follow the steps mentioned below:
- You must have a PC/Laptop with web connectivity to be able to check in. The web check-in facility would be available starting 48 hrs in advance and up to 2hrs before a flight departure time. Additionally, you need a printer attached to be able to print the Boarding Card/Confirmation slip.
